Governor Umahi tasks new Medical Doctors on professional ethics

The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has called on newly sworn in Medical Doctors to heed to the ethics of their profession.

The Governor stated this during the oath taking  ceremony of the 19th batch of Medical grandaunts in Ebonyi State University, in Abakaliki, the State capital.

Governor Umahi advised Universities and Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria to always create enabling environment and necessary laws that can aid Medical activities in Nigeria.

“Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN must at all times make work easy for the professionals in that field, for when they have enabling environment to operate, they will operate optimally,”  the Governor stated.

Governor David Umahi  was represented by his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe.

The Vice Chancellor of  Ebonyi State University Abakaliki, Professor Chigozie Ogbu was full of happiness as the  University has increased to 1730 medical personnel  who have graduated so far in the school.

Professor Ogbu advised the new medical Doctors to be good Ambassadors of the profession.

The Chief Medical Director of Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Dr Emaka Onwe Ogah, encouraged them to be dedicated and obedient while discharging their duties.

One of the parents of the grandaunts, a retired Permanent Secretary, Mr Cajetan Oketa said he was fulfilled seeing his son become a medical Doctor.

“It’s not by power or might but by the spirit says the Lord. My son should put God first, Doctors care, only God heals, with God, he will always succeed,” he said.

Also, one of the new Medical Doctors, Dr Oscar Oketa thanked God for making him a fulfilled Man.

Oscar thanked the Staff and Management of Ebonyi State University for bringing the best out of him.
