Group commends Nigerian Navy’s Fight against Terrorism In Lake Chad

A Non-Government Organisation, Building Resilience Against Violent Extremism, Insurgency and Terrorism (BRAVIET), has appreciated the efforts of the Nigerian Navy in fighting terrorism in the Lake Chad region and some parts of the country.

 

While stating that achievements of the Nigerian Navy in the lake Chad and the Gulf of Guinea, Professor Khalifa Dikwa, Dean, Borno Concerned Elders Forum said the Nigerian Security agencies and Navy in particular have contributed tirelessly in achieving peace and security through the Nigerian water ways.

 

“With these remarkable achievements, we must commend their efforts of securing our Maritime territory to ensure that security has been achieved to the minimal level in the lake Chad region and Nigeria at large.”

 

The Patron of BRAVIET, Mr. Abubakar Sani, said Boko Haram insurgency has crippled the Northeastern region especially Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states in areas of economy, education and health but the operations of the Nigerian Navy in Lake Chad region has brought insecurity to a minimal level.

 

“I think the Nigerian securities deserve a commendation because I know Borno before this regime and I know it now, the Insurgency has been defeated almost Ninety percent which is a good success in our country, Africa and the world at large.”

 

Mr., Sani also commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration which ensured that weapons smuggling through the lake Chad is stopped.

 

On his part, the State Coordinator of BRAVIET, Mr. Abba Kalli, said the Nigerian Navy’s success is complemented by the deployment of state-of-the -art technology such as the Navy’s Falcon Eye Surveillance System in the lake Chad river.

 

Stating how the Insurgency is defeated in the Northeast region, the State Coordinator said “two methods are used, the kinetic and non-kinetic. And we deployed the non-kinetic by engaging the youths into some dialogue talks and sensitization campaigns to be patriotic for the sake of their country.”

 

The NGO also promised to increase their effort in engaging the youths against involving in the dangerous activities that will mar their future.
