Kaduna government conducts free Hepatitis test for aged persons

Kaduna state Government has Conducted free hepatitis test to over 80 the elderly person in the state.

The free test was conducted in commemoration of the international day for the elderly person which was celebrated on Wednesday in Kaduna.

The Commissioner of Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Baba said the international day for the elderly is aimed at recognizing the contributions of the elderly persons in our life,

Baba who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry Alhaji Adamu Mansur said the age group are highly value in the society hence the need to Raise awareness of the special health needs of older persons and of their contributions to their own health and to the functioning of the societies in which they live.

“I don’t think the nation will have any progress without contributions of the elderly.”

According to her the age group are highly vulnerable and called on them to always observed covid-19 Considering the higher risks confronted by older persons during the outbreak of  COVID-19 pandemic.

“Ensure you observed covid-19 protocol, regular hand washing, use of face marks and observed social distances.”

The Commissioner for Health Kaduna state, Dr Amina Baloni, urged the elderly in the state to always take proper care of their health by undergoing regular exercise and eat healthy food.

According to her, ageing always comes with various health challenges hence the need for them to be very caution of their health by visiting the doctor when they  find anything  unusual with their health.

The state Coordinator Hepatitis zero Commission, Hajiya Jamila Abdullahi said at least five viruses can cause hepatitis and the three most common  hepatitis are A, B, and C. Infection with any of these three viruses can lead to life threatening complications to our health hence the need for all to avail themselves for test.
