Kano Governor commends regional groups for Nigeria’s unity

Kano state Governor Dr.Umar Abdullahi has commended the highest regional, ethnic and social cultural groups in Nigeria, the Ohaneze-indigbo, Afenifere, Arewa Consultative Forum and others for their stand on one Nigeria

Ganduje gave the compliment while delivering his address to mark June 12th, the Democracy Day in Nigeria.

The commendation is comming on the heels of threat for secession by some groups in the country.

” I will like to use this opportunity to appreciate and congratulate the  Ohaneze Ndigbo, Arewa Consultative Forum, Afenifere and Middle Belt Association for their resolve to opt for the oneness of Nigeria,” said Ganduje.

He urged the group’s among others to quickly organise a national summit that focuses on national integration for meaningful development of the country.

He called on the groups to,during the summit see the diversity in the country as the source of the nation’s strength and a window for exploiting potentialities.

“I will like you to take your aspirations to the next level. I urge you to come together to hold an important meeting to consider the issues of diversity, our differences and similarities.”

“Consider converting our differences which has caused us a number of challenges into opportunities for the development of Nigeria.”

“Our diversity is a gift from God, a source of strength and therefore we should convert it to unity and opportunities so we can take Nigeria to the next level,” said Ganduje.

Ganduje said President Muhammadu Buhari took the decision to make June 12th the “Democracy Day’ in Nigeria to reconcile fallouts from the June 12th, 1993 Presidential election.

This signifies a national reconciliation pertaining to the griviances on June 12.”

He commended President Buharia for for projects on intra and international rail lines, roads and others that is set to make Kano a commercial Hub for some West African Countries.
