KPMG Nigeria has appointed a former Nigerian Statistician-General, Dr Oyeyemi Kale, as its chief economist.

KPMG Nigeria announced the appointment in a statement, noting that the partners and staff of the firm were pleased to welcome Kale, the former statistician-general of the federation between 2011 to 2021.

According to the statement, the new chief economist would lead the firm’s view on macroeconomics and enhance the breadth of its solutions involving economic modelling and macroeconomic analysis in private and public sector clients.

Kale holds a B.Sc. Honours degree in Economics (first class) from Addis Ababa University and an M.Sc. (distinction) and PhD in Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science, the statement said.

According to KPMG Nigeria, under Kale’s watch, the NBS leveraged infographics to simplify the way economic data is communicated, which connected with professionals and the public.

Mr Kale was first appointed in August 2011 as the statistician-general of the federation and chief executive officer of the National Bureau of Statistics, for an initial five-year term.
