The Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) has announced October 6th 2021 for the conduct of election in the 13 Local Government areas of the State.

The Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Ayuba Wandai disclosed the date during a press conference on the program of activities leading to the conduct of the local government election, in Lafia the State Capital.

Barrister Wandai said that logistics issues were among the things that delayed the conduct of local government elections in the state.

He, however, said that the commission is set to exercise its statutory responsibility of organizing, undertaking, and supervising elections into the Local Government Councils as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and other relevant laws.

The commission has, therefore, by the powers conferred on it fixed 6th October 2021 for both Chairmanship and Councillorship Election across all the thirteen Local Government and 147 Electoral Wards across the State”, Wandai said.

It would be recalled that the tenure of the 2018 Local Government Councils Elected Officials expired on May 28th, 2021 thereby creating a leadership vacuum in the thirteen (13) Local Government Councils across the state.
