Wilfred Ndidi has called on Leicester City to demonstrate self-belief when they face Brighton at Amex Stadium on Saturday.
The Foxes are third in the Premier League and have so far amassed 50 points in 2020/21 with 11 games to go between now and the end of the season in late May.
Although a victory at Burnley on Wednesday was the aim, Ndidi says a point was a positive result for City as Brendan Rodgersā men had to deal with a host of injuries, which led to the Nigeria international initially playing in central defence for the visitors in Lancashire.
āWeāll take that because Burnley is always a difficult game, playing away also.
”It was important for confidence. Moving forward, confidence is really important so it was very good for us to not lose that one after the previous results.
āWe just have to take our chances and do our best, play our style and believe in ourselves.
āI would say,Ā I want to be in the midfield, but itās for the team. I have to do that. Whichever position the gaffer wants me to play; I will try my best for the team,” he said.
Ndidi also hailed compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho for his goal against Burnley.
āIt was a really fantastic goal. āIām happy for him. Iām glad I made the assist, but he finished it and it was good for the team, keeping it 1-1,ā the former Genk midfielder stated.
Brighton, however, are likely to pose an entirely different challenge for Leicester on Saturday, Ndidi says, as Graham Potterās men look to pull away from the Premier Leagueās relegation berths.
He said; āItās a different game from Burnley, but itās a game weāll work for and work our head around and try to do our best,ā the 24-year-old explained. āAt this time, we have to get as much points as we can.
Ā āItās the kind of game weāre looking forward to and weāll see what comes out of it.
āFor us, as a team, we know they have a different style, but we always try to adapt. It is a different game. They try to keep the ball but can actually play long balls too.
āItās these kind of games you have to do your best, stay together and do our best. We just have to take our chances and do our best, play our style and believe in ourselves.ā
