The Nigerian Government has approved the construction of two flyovers and an underpass in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
‎The approval followed a request by Governor Abdullahi Sule through the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi.
‎Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, disclosed this during a bimonthly press briefing in Lafia, the state capital.
‎Ahemba reaffirmed “the state government’s commitment to completing the Karu flyovers and underpass projects before the end of the current administration in 2027.”
‎He said that “the Sule-led government had already earmarked funds for the projects even before they were formally conceived, and the administration maintains a culture of financial prudence and project completion.”
‎ “Since the inception of this administration in 2019, the government has always ensured that funds are set aside before embarking on any project.
“Governor Sule does not believe in wasting public resources or abandoning projects midway,” he said.
‎Ahemba explained that the projects, aimed at addressing the persistent traffic congestion along the busy Karu–Mararaba corridor.
‎ “This development is part of the government’s effort to provide lasting solutions to traffic challenges. It will ease movement for residents, motorists, and travellers, while also enhancing road quality and durability,” he said.
‎Ahemba further stated that the Governor has directed the Nasarawa State Urban Development Agency (NUDA) to conduct a feasibility study and assessment to determine suitable locations for the flyovers and underpass.
‎According to him, “NUDA has also been mandated to work out the technical details for the subsequent award of contracts.”
‎Ahemba emphasised that the Sule administration remains resolute in its commitment to deliver the projects within its tenure, reiterating that all ongoing and new infrastructure initiatives will be completed before 2027.
