Nigerian Govt promises to restore peace in troubled areas

The Minister of Defence retired Major General Bashir Magashi has reiterated government’s commitment to restoring peace in the troubled spots in parts of the Country.

General Magashi stated this at the Defence Headquarter’s 61st Independence Anniversary dinner held at the Army Headquarters Command Officers Mess, Abuja.

The Minister who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion said; ”President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to addressing critical challenges facing various commands and by so doing, the attainment of National security objectives of government can be met.”

The Minister also conveyed the commendation of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the military in the preservation of National security.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha shared his personal relationship with top Military officers dating back to 1981 during his service year in Lagos and said the efforts of our heroes past shall never be in vain.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Leo Irabor pledged continued loyalty of the Military to the constituted Authority.

He stated that ”the dinner for the 61st Independence Anniversary was conceptualised to reward some Officers, ratings and Soldiers who distinguished themselves in battles.”

General Irabor made Specific mention of the gallantry of late Lt Col Abu Ali and encouraged others to emulate his outstanding legendary Performance in service to the nation.
