The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC has emphasised its commitment to strengthening grassroots security and community-based intelligence as tools for tackling insecurity in the country.
The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Audi, disclosed this in Awka, Anambra State Capital, during his operational tour of the South East region.
Prof. Audi noted that the Corps has mapped out some operational strategic action plans that would ensure effective security coverage at the grassroots level across the country.
The Commandant General, who was received by the Anambra State Governor, Dr Chukwuma Soludo, said he was in the South East Region to boost the morale of the personnel, reinforce their operational capacity and understand their challenges.
He assured him that the Civil Defence Corps is poised to ensure that security challenges are tackled right from the grassroots, saying the goal would be achieved in collaboration with other security agencies.
The Commandant General commended the Governor for his administration’s proactive efforts in maintaining peace and stability and also solicited greater logistics and infrastructural support to enhance the NSCDC’s performance in the state.
“Security must begin from the grassroots. That is where the people live, work, and build the future. The Corps remains resolute in delivering quality service and ensuring that the confidence of Nigerians, particularly Ndi Anambra, in our operations is not misplaced,” Professor Audi stated.
Governor Soludo, in his response, commended the NSCDC for its professionalism, discipline, and resilience, especially in safeguarding critical national assets and public infrastructure.
“Here in Anambra, the Light of the Nation, our greatest asset is our people: creative, enterprising, and innovative, they are the engine of our economy; therefore, ensuring their safety and prosperity is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate the NSCDC for standing firm in that mission,” Governor Soludo said.
The governor pledged continued partnership and support for the Corps, affirming that security remains the foundation for the state’s economic growth and innovation-driven development.
The Commandant General’s tour of Anambra is part of a nationwide operational assessment aimed at improving personnel welfare, operational readiness, and synergy among security stakeholders.
The tour also underscores the NSCDC’s renewed focus on community trust, proactive engagement, and service excellence under Professor Audi’s leadership.
