Okeme emerges as Kogi Labour Party governorship candidate

A Legal Practioner, Mr. Adejo Okeme, on Sunday emerged as the candidate of Labour Party (LP) for the Nov. 11 governorship election in Kogi State.

Okeme, scored 127 votes ahead of his closet rival AVM Isaac Alfa, who scored 69 votes at the primary election held on Saturday in Lokoja, the state capital.

Okeme is from Kogi East Senatorial district.

The committee chairman, Dr Ayo Olorunfemi said, “Okeme, having scored the majority of the lawful votes cast at the indirect primary election conducted on April 15, in Kogi, is hereby declared the winner of the Labour Party primary election 2023.

Okeme, told journalists that security, unemployment and salary payment are top priority of his administration if elected Kogi State Governor.

“I am a businessman and I know well the importance of security to investment and conducive business climate and, adequate security for the state is part of my strategic leadership action plan for Kogi State; I believe it’s workable and achievable plan that should be supported by all Party members and supporter for a greater Kogi State of our collective dream.”

He thanked the delegates, party leadership and security agencies for a peaceful primary election.
