There was full compliance with the restriction of movement order issued by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, in respect of today’s Governorship and State House of Assembly Election in Osun state.

Streets of the capital city, Osogbo, were largely empty, while shops and businesses remained closed in compliance with the order.

Security operatives manned strategic roads particularly those leading in and out of the state.

Violators

On Gbongan-Osogbo road, several violators of the restriction of movement order were arrested by security agents.

The vehicles of the violators were impounded by the security personnel enforcing the restriction order.

Some of the violators who could provide evidence that they were on their way to exercise their franchise were told to leave their vehicles behind and proceed to their polling units on foot.

Others who could not provide any evidence of why they should put their vehicles on the road were detained alongside their vehicles.

Osun residents are today voting to elect their representatives into the state House of Assembly, having elected their Governor on 16th July 2022.
