Osun State REC Expresses Satisfaction With Election Outcome

The Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke, has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the elections, as the state records a massive turn out of voters.

Election materials arrived in different polling units in Osun state as scheduled as the presidential and national assembly elections commenced hitch-free.

Voice of Nigeria reports that eligible voters at ward 04 Unit 02 Ogooluwa kitan 1, Golf junction Osogbo, Osun State, Southwest, Nigeria, were already on the queue to perform their civil rights as early as 7:00am local time.

Other areas visited in company of Dr Agboke, recorded a large turn out as the voters patiently waited to be accredited before voting.

Some of the polling units visited include those in Osun Central and West namely, Irepodun, Orolu, Ede and Ilesha.

During the inspection visit, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner gave preferential treatment to pregnant women and the elderly to vote first before others in queue.

According to him, it is one of the INEC policy to allow the elderly, people with disabilities and pregnant women to be separated from the general queue.

Voice of Nigeria Correspondent chatted with the Head, Domestic Observers, Osun State, Michael Ebofin, who expressed joy with the conduct and thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission for a job well done.

Collation of results has begun at the ward and local levels including the three Senatorial Zones.

 

There is a total number of over one million registered voters in Osun State.

There are 30 local government areas in Osun State, 3 Senatorial Districts, and 9 Federal Constituencies. There is a total number of 332 wards and 3,763 polling units across the State.
