The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna state chapter has outrightly rejected the pronounced results of the just concluded governorship election, which was in favour of the ruling APC.

According to PDP, the rejection was because of the lack of transparency by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who failed to use the authentic results in its server (IReV) to determine the winner of the election.

Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, the Chairman of the party, Felix Hassan Hyat disclosed that the party had anticipated that INEC was not going to be just in declaring the authentic winner of the election.

Our fears were confirmed last night when the State gubernatorial returning Officer, Prof. Lawal Suleiman Bilbis used questionable results to declare Senator Uba Sani of the APC as elected with 730,002 votes against 719,196 votes allocated to our Candidate, Rt. Hon. Mohamed Isah Ashiru of the PDP.”

“PDP rejects this result and the declaration of Sani as winner of the gubernatorial elections of 18th March, 2023,” Hyat said.

The Chairman of the party assured Kaduna residents of reclaiming the stolen mandate, stating that the party has commenced necessary actions in accordance with a view to arrest the alleged broad day robbery against the people of the state by the APC and its collaborators.

While thanking the people for their support, Hyat appealed for continuous prayers and support to fight the cause to its logical conclusion.

Appreciation

Meanwhile, the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Honourable Isa Ashiru Kudan extended his sincere gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to individuals and groups who sacrificed their time and resources during the electoral processes in the state.

Ashiru noted that the dedication, commitment, and confidence showed on him by all, including political colleagues, truly humbled him.

According to him, “people who believed in the vision my party and I stood for showed exemplary dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to our project despite challenges that include fuel and cash scarcity, insecurity, and threat, people still braved the odds to go and vote. And while the announcement of the result went through several postponements, they patiently and peacefully waited. I remain grateful for such commendable passion and support, especially the insight and guidance provided to me.”

He further called on all supporters of the PDP and those who desire genuine leadership in Kaduna state to remain calm and peaceful.

He said they were xraying the entire electoral process, including the announced result which totally did not reflect the wish of majority of Kaduna voters to form the basis for future actions that could be taken by him and the party.
