Premier League: Bukayo Saka Fires Arsenal Eight Points Clear

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka scored twice to help the Gunners go eight (8) points clear at the top of the Premier League after a 4-1 victory against Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium in London, England.

The hosts featured Leandro Trossard in attack with Saka and Gabriel Martinelli supporting on the flanks. For Crystal Palace, it was a front-three of Ivorian Wilfried Zaha, Odsonne Edouard and Michael Olise.

In the 23rd minute, Arsenal opened the scoring through Martinelli as Saka’s cross found the Brazlilian in the box. Martinelli breezed past Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward, before firing a rocket of a shot past goalkeeper Joe Whitworth and into the net.

It was Martinelli’s 13th goal in the Premier League this season.

Then just before halftime, Arsenal struck again. Defender Ben White found Saka with a brilliant pass and the winger beat his marker in the box before placing the ball calmly into the net to make the scores 2-0.

In the second half, midfielder Granit Xhaka scored from close range to make the scores 3-0 in the 55th minute as Arsenal ran through Crystal Palace.

However, Crystal Palace midfielder Jeffery Schlupp gave the visitors a glimmer of hope when he scored from close range during a corner kick. 3-1!!

English Footballer of the Year Saka then put the result beyond doubt when his powerfully placed shot against the run of play found the back of the net, sending the fans at the Emirates Stadium into a frenzy.

The match finished 4-1 in favour of Arsenal as they continue their quest for the Premier League title. The Gunners are now eight (8) points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

With Manchester City’s FA Cup action on Saturday, Arsenal have now capitalised on the chance to extend its lead at the top.

Arenal will face Leeds United in the Premier League when they return from the March International break, while rivals Manchester City will battle Liverpool in what would be a fascinating encounter.

Crystal Palace will play Leicester City at home in the Premier League.
