Rivers United crash Out of 2023 Federation Cup

The Four-time champions, Enyimba defeated Rivers United 5-4 on penalties in the on-going Federation Cup Round of 64 contest in Uyo on Thursday night.

The Pride of Rivers returned to the country from Tanzania on Monday where they played their second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup against Young Africans.

Their return to the domestic scene ended in a defeat as they lost the Federation Cup to Enyimba International on penalties,with Enyimba converting all five kicks to goals.

The 5-4 victory for Enyimba means Rivers United crashed out of two major trophies in four days.

Enyimba will now face another Nigeria Professional Football League side, Plateau United in the Round of 32.

The Round of 32 games will be played across different centres next week Wednesday.

The winner of the Federation Cup will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
