The Federation of Muslim Women Association in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Bauchi State chapter, has trained girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to boost their participation in digital space.

FOMWAN, at a one-day mentoring session to mark the 2023 International Women’s Day in Bauchi on Friday, said that the training would enhance national development.

The Association’s State Chairperson, Mrs Habiba Usman, said that the limited number of women in STEM courses and careers was worrisome, adding that all hands should be on deck to counsel girls in schools on the relevance of such subjects.

” More so, online gender-based violence, coupled with lack of legal recourse that often forces women out of the digital spaces, ” she said.

Usman appealed to the incoming administration to provide an enabling environment for women and girls to aspire into the world of technology.
