The Managing Director of the Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA), Abubakar Malam, has reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Sokoto State Government in critical areas of water resources development, irrigation, food security and rural transformation.

Malam made the pledge while congratulating the Government and people of Sokoto State on the occasion of the State’s 50th anniversary, describing the milestone as a moment for renewed commitment to sustainable development.

In a congratulatory message issued on behalf of the management and staff of the Authority, he said Sokoto State’s five decades of existence reflect resilience, cultural pride and progressive leadership, noting the State’s achievements in governance, agriculture, education, commerce and human capital development.

He said the Authority’s ongoing and planned interventions in Sokoto are designed to boost agricultural productivity, strengthen food security and support rural livelihoods, in line with national development priorities.

The SRRBDA Managing Director commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for what he described as purposeful leadership and a focus on good governance and sustainable development, adding that effective state–federal collaboration remains critical to achieving long-term development goals.

Malam also acknowledged the role of the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, in promoting peace, religious harmony and the preservation of cultural heritage in the State and across the country.

He said SRRBDA’s programmes are aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that water resource management and irrigation development are central to national food security and economic growth.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Amiru Adamu, Malam reiterated the Authority’s readiness to deepen cooperation with the Sokoto State Government to improve the quality of life of residents and support Nigeria’s broader development objectives.
