Taraba state University hosts 12th Matriculation ceremony

Taraba State University has been rated 63rd  in the country.The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe, disclosed this during the 12th Matriculation ceremony in Jalingo.

“The University is rated the 63rd from 94th in the previous years out of over 250 Universities in the Country.

“In the light of the above, I therefore seize the opportunity to congratulate all the newly admitted student for the opportunity God has given them to pursue and shape their destinies.

He charged each of them to make use of the opportunity adequately, for opportunity once lost, will be very difficult to regain, adding that Matriculation is purely an Academic activity.

He said that students can be bona fide through character and learning, adding that Certificates are only issued based on character and learning improvements.

According to him, the University is fast growing and has dreams that it is pursuing with purpose, determination and vigour, adding that the newly admitted students are expected to key into the Vision and mission of the University on individual basis so as to contribute their quota to the attainment of the Vision, mission and objectives of the University as envisioned by its founding fathers.

“It is to train and groom men and women like you to acquire appropriate skills, abilities and competencies both mental and physical for the well being of the Society in general.

He urged them to shun vices such as Cultism, Drug abuse, truancy, Thuggery, Hooliganism, Examination Malpractice among others.

“You shall watch against involvement in any of these anti social acts. The student’s handbook spelt out the penalty for involvement in such evil act, and the University will not hesitate to apply them on culprits.

He disclosed that the University under his watch has recorded achievements leading to the up lifting to the standard of the University in Nigeria and across the globe in last few years. Some of the achievements include, Completion of Senate Building, named after Gov. Darius Dickson Ishaku (DDI), Establishment of new faculties such as ;  Management Science, Health Science, Law, Media and Communication Studies.

Over 70 Academics Programs are being run in University. The University formerly has Two Professors, but now has over Fifty resident Professors. All these have brought about the improvement in the ranking of the University from 94th in the previous years to 63rd in Nigeria Universities, but we are not resting on our effort” – he said.
