Theatre Commander applauds troops’ proficiency in curtailing insurgency

The Theatre Commander (TC) Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Ibrahim Ali has extolled the operational posture, proficiency and pro-activeness of  troops of 7 Division Nigerian Army.

He commanded the troops for sustaining the operational tempo and momentum in the ongoing onslaught against Boko Haram Terrorists and Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) in the North East Theatre of operations.

The Theatre Commander gave the commendation during his familiarization visit to the Division’s Headquarters in Maimalari Cantonment on Saturday, 11 February 2023.

General Ali was received on arrival by the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Major General Waidi Shaibu who introduced him to the various Component Commanders and other Principal Staff Officers of Headquarters 7 Division, before ushering him into the Operations room where he received a detailed brief on the general security situation within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.

The TC was also briefed on deployments of formations and units  under command, as well as the successes, challenges and future projections of the Division, amongst others.

He thereafter inspected series of ongoing projects within Maimalari Cantonment before proceeding to Forward Operating Base, Molai to assess the operational readiness of deployed troops.

The Theatre Commander lauded the Division for its concerted efforts in fostering peace in the Theatre, while  urging the officers and men to remain diligent and focused in ensuring that the remnants of the BH/ISWAP terrorists are decisively dealt with.

He urged them to shun all forms of misconduct while working towards the actualisation of the Theatre’s mandate in eradicating terrorism in the North East.

General Ali equally commended the GOC for his efforts at developing the infrastructure in the Cantonment and implored him to maintain set standards in order to assuage the acute shortage of accommodation in the Cantonment.

Climax of the visit was a simulation of various combat drills by troops of 7 Division Garrison which held at FOB Molai, signing of the visitor’s register and group photograph.

 

Present during the visit were Formations and Unit Commanders, Principal Staff Officers from Headquarters Theatre Command and 7 Division.
