UNGA76: President Buhari leaves for New York

President Muhammadu Buhari is on his way to New York, United States of America to participate in the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He departed the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport at about 08:00 local time.

Present at the airport to bid him farewell were the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello and the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba among others. View pictures below:

While in New York, the President will partake in some bilateral meetings and sideline events  at UNGA 76.

He will address the assembly on Friday September 24, where he will make Nigeria’s position known on certain global issues.

The theme for UNGA 76 is “Building Resilience Through Hope – To Recover from COVID-19, Rebuild Sustainably, Respond to the Needs of the Planet, Respect the Rights of People and Revitalize the United Nations.”

President Buhari is expected back in the country on Sunday 26th September.
