Yobe, Nasarawa state Governors Felicitate Muslim Ummah On Eid-Al-Fitr

Yobe state governor in Northeast Nigeria, Mai Mala Buni heartily felicitates with the Muslim Ummah and the people of Yobe state on the Eid-al-Fitr Sallah celebration marking the end of the one-month Ramadan fasting.

The Governor also congratulated Muslims who were privileged to perform the lesser Hajj (Umrah) in Saudi Arabia and wish them a safe return to Nigeria.

The Governor urged Muslims to pray for lasting peace and prosperity in Yobe state and Nigeria.

He said: “Giving out measures of foodstuff to the poor and needy among us as stipulated by Islam is an act of worship that strengthens the bond of unity and promotes happiness, mercy and love.

“Let us also be reminded that the Sallah celebration is also a period of sacrifice and generosity. We should continue to be generous to our neighbours to make life more meaningful for others.

“I wish to express my utmost gratitude to Almighty Allah for the relative peace enjoyed across the state. We should not lose faith in the sad killing of some people around Buni Gari in the Gujba Local Government Area. 

“It is with sadness that we also recorded the sad car crash in Damaturu killing some and injuring others.

 “May the souls of the departed rest in Peace and, l wish the victims hospitalised speedy recovery,” Governor Buni prayed.

Governor Buni further called on Nigerians to pray for a peaceful and successful transition of power in the country.

Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Governor in North-Central Nigeria,  Abdullahi Sule has also urged the people of the state to continue to tolerate each other’s beliefs and values to sustain peace, harmony, and socio-cultural and economic prosperity.

Governor Sule stated this in a press statement signed and issued to journalists in the state.

The statement said that “Muslims all over the world have observed the fast in the sacred month of Ramadan in compliance with the Islamic injunction.

“The spirit of sharing in our daily activities should be our watchword. Indeed, it behoves us all, as the citizens of Nasarawa State, to engage in sober reflection, sacrifice, contentment, and hard work for the prosperity of our dear State, Sule noted.

Also, Nigeria’s High Commissioner To Sierra Leone, Henry Omaku, has congratulated the Muslim community across the world as they mark this year’s Eid-al-Fitr.

He said this in a message signed and made available to journalists in Lafia congratulated Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari and Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, and the entire Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of the Ramadan Fast.

He said that Fasting in the month of Ramadan is aimed at strengthening the Muslim spiritual engagements of abstinence from eating, drinking, and satisfying other desires from sunset to dawn.

The High Commissioner urged the citizens of Nasarawa State and Nigerians to continue to pray for the sustenance of peace, security, and socio-economic prosperity of the State and the country at large.

The State Command also wishes to call on the good people of the State to live in peace with one another irrespective of their ethnic or religious affiliation and report any likely breach of peace in their area to the Police for prompt action.
