The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has offered entertainment stars, Innocent Idibia (also known as Tuface), DJ Switch, Omotola Jelade-Ekeinde, and soccer star, Ahmed Musa free tickets to run for any elective office of their choice in the 2023 general elections as part of measures to encourage youth participation in politics.

The party also promised to collaborate with Nigerians in Diaspora “to produce six governorship candidates to serve as stellar governors, one each for the six zones.”

ADC National Chairman, Ralphs Okey Nwosu, who spoke on Tuesday when he received a certificate of endorsement of ADC as a party for Nigerian youths and women, said the party needs to strengthen the creativity and drive of the youths.

Advancing reason for the choice of the celebrities to run on the platform of the party, Mr Nwosu noted that entertainment stars have given back to the country more than today’s elected politicians.

Nwosu, who decried the spate of insecurity into the country, noted that apart from being social influencers, and crusaders, they add more positive values and monetary resources to the Nigerian economy than all the elected executives, legislators and their appointees at local, state and federal levels.

He added that the stars can vie for governorship, Senatorial or even the highest office in the land on the ADC platform provided they meet the requirements stipulated in the 1999 constitution (as amended) as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC guidelines.

The party praised Musa for recently signing up to play for the local side, Kano Pillars after many years in Europe and the Middle East.
