2027 Election: PDP Candidate Pledges Grassroots-Focused Administration in Kaduna

By Solomon Chung, Kaduna

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Shehu Usman Bawa, has pledged to run a bottom-to-top administration if elected, with the needs of people at the grassroots guiding government policies.

Bawa made the pledge in Kafanchan, Southern Kaduna, during an engagement and familiarisation meeting with PDP supporters and stakeholders in Zone 3, covering the Kaduna South Senatorial District.

He urged political candidates to avoid making promises they could not fulfil if elected, stressing the need for accountability and service to the people.

“I challenge candidates not to make promises they will not be able to fulfil when elected,” he said.

Bawa also called on citizens across Kaduna State to participate in what he described as a project for good governance.

Speaking after the candidate, the Kaduna State PDP Chairman, Chief Edward Percy Masha, said the engagement was organised to enable Bawa and his running mate to meet party supporters and other stakeholders directly.

Masha said the PDP was prepared to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) for power in Kaduna State and at the national level.

He said the party would continue to present its policy proposals to the public ahead of the elections.

Earlier, the PDP Zonal Chairman, Yusuf Danjuma Akuso, described Bawa as a “fine gentleman” and expressed confidence in his candidacy.

Also speaking, the immediate past PDP Chairman in Kaduna State, Hassan Hyat, said the party was committed to what he described as good governance.

He called on citizens to support the PDP, saying the party was seeking to return the country to what he described as its former state.

The meeting was attended by PDP supporters, party leaders and other stakeholders, who heard from the candidate and other party officials on their plans ahead of the elections.
