The Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) presidential candidate for Nigeria’s 2027 election, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has pledged to prioritise the country’s security if elected.
Adebayo pledged at the Arewa Awareness Summit on Unity Against Insecurity in Kaduna State, where he engaged stakeholders on strategies to boost the nation’s security.
He referenced his 21 years of experience, including a decade in government, which he said has equipped him with the capacity to identify and address societal challenges.

Participants at the summit deliberated on security, agriculture, education and population demographics, reflecting a collective effort to find solutions to the country’s challenges.
The SDP candidate highlighted the strategic importance of Northern Nigeria, describing it as critical to the future of the country as well as the Sahel and West Africa. He also pointed to the region’s population as a key asset with significant political and economic potential.
Adebayo noted that population growth is increasingly valued globally, citing examples of countries encouraging higher birth rates to sustain their economies.
On governance, he stressed that effective leadership could significantly address Nigeria’s challenges within a short period, urging citizens to recognise their role in electing credible leaders and supporting them.
He called for active citizen participation in the democratic process, noting that constructive engagement would encourage responsive leadership and strengthen governance.
The candidate also underscored the importance of agriculture, advocating increased investment by both government and the private sector to harness the North’s vast agricultural potential for job creation and economic growth.
Adebayo further emphasised the need to strengthen the education sector, calling for improved access to education for young people, many of whom remain outside the formal system, to better prepare them for national development.
