4,000 Students Undergo Skills Training in Kaduna State

The Kaduna State Government, through the Ministry of Business Innovation and Technology (MBIT), says no fewer than 4,000 students are currently undergoing training in various vocational and technical trades.

The Director, Innovation and Skills Development of the Ministry, Mr. Noel Bali said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Monday.

Bali outlined the activities of the Institute since President Bola Tinubu commissioned it in June 2025.

He noted that the support from the State Governor, Uba Sani contributed significantly to the rapid growth of the institute and its increasing recognition within and outside Nigeria.

He said; “Between June and July 2025, the National Board for Technical Education approved all 14 trade areas offered at the institute’s campuses located in Rigachikun, Soba, and Samaru Kataf.

“The approval paved the way for the implementation of various technical and vocational education programmes under the Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).

“Following the commissioning of the institute, the Kaduna State government approved the recruitment of instructors under permanent, contract, and part-time arrangements.

“The contract and part-time instructors are experienced industry practitioners engaged to strengthen practical skills acquisition, while permanent staff are expected to grow through mentorship and continuous training.”

Bali said that under the Nigerian Government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative, the Federal Ministry of Education deployed 220 and 210 students to the Rigachikun and Soba campuses, respectively.

He said that “the first batch had completed their training, while the institute was awaiting the posting of beneficiaries for the second cohort.”

According to the Director, “60 newly recruited staff members have been trained as Quality Assurance Assessors (QAA),” describing the move as a step toward institutionalising the NSQF in the institute.

Some of the trade areas currently offered include POP, painting, masonry, tiling, plumbing, pipe fittings, carpentry and joinery, welding, and fabrication.
