Kano State receives water use licenses from Management Commission
The Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission, NIWRMC, has granted six water use licenses to the Kano State Water Board, North-west Nigeria.
The Water Use Licenses are for official extraction of water and to help in the expansion of the water wells to improve on the water supply to Nigeria Bottling Company from the Challawa Plant in Kano State, Northwest Nigeria.
The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of NIWRMC, Mr Magashi Umar Bashir when presenting the licenses in Abuja said that the Commission has the mandate for the issuance of Licenses and the regulation of water resources in Nigeria.
Magashi also stated that licensing of various water users is necessary and important to the nation at a time like this when the Government was up- scaling revenue generation and job creation among others.
While receiving the licenses the Managing Director, Kano State Water Board, Dr Garba Kofar-Wambai commended the Nigerian Government and the Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission for the great honour done to the people of Kano State by giving official permission to use water for their operations.
Dr Kofar-Wambai also stated that they will adhere strictly to the Terms and Conditions attached to the Licenses which are derived from the Water Resources Act CAP W2, LFN 2004.
