Media practitioners in Nigeria have been commended for their contributions for the improvement of democracy in the country.
The chairman of the Independent National Electoral commission INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu declared this in Abuja at a consultative meeting with the media practitioners towards the expansion of voter access to polling units.

Professor Yakubu informed that in any democratic nation, media plays an important role in electoral processes.

He said that the media in Nigeria has been a good partner in the successful conduct of elections making references to the recently concluded elections in the country.
The INEC chairman disclosed that the country is facing the challenges of election polling units which the commission was trying to resolve and enjoined Nigerians to support the commission in its efforts the to improve the country’s electoral processes.
