Workers’ strike: Niger State civil servants resume work

The strike action embarked upon by civil servants in Niger state North central Nigeria has been called off.

A joint statement by both the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress Niger state chapter informed all civil servants in the state to resume their normal duties based on an agreement reached with the state government on demand of the workers.

“Workers are hereby directed to report to their respective work places  effective Wednesday 9, 2020” the statement read.

Comrade Yakubu Garba of the NLC and Tanimu Yunusa of the TUC, both commended the civil servants in Niger state for their commitment and solidarity demonstrated during the period of struggle.

Workers in Niger state embarked on an indefinite strike action over the slashing of their salaries by the state government due to low monthly allocation by the Federal government.
