PDP presidential candidate promises to revamp Nigeria’s economy

The Presidential flag bearer of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has called on Nigerians to vote for a credible candidate that can move the nation’s economy to a vibrant one.
Atiku noted that if elected as the next president of Nigeria, he will expand the scope of the economy and remove all obstacles hindering its growth.
The Former Nigerian Vice President who said this at a stakeholders engagement organised by the Ogun state chapter of the party, in Abeokuta, the state capital stressed that between 1999 to 2007 that the nation’s GDP increased under the administration he served.
While answering questions raised by representatives from the Nigerian Medical Association, National Association of Nigerian Students and Nigerian Labour Congress, Atiku explained how the party will tackle issues relating to their sectors if voted into power.
“What we propose or what to plan to implement is to expand the economy so that once we do that, we believe unemployment and also living standard of our workers whether in the public or private will be improved,” he said.
“Those who understand economics know that expanding the economy means growing the economy and removing all obstacles that tend to affect the growth of the economy.
“We have done that before from 1999 to 2015 when we grew this economy and it became the biggest economy in Africa and the biggest growth in the history of this country as far as our GDP growth is concern,” he added.
Private Partnership
The Presidential flag bearer said that he will expand the Primary health sector and through private partnership the health sector will be funded to provide qualitative health services to the people.
He reassured the people that a healthy nation, is a wealthy nation which he said will be of utmost priority for his government.
Atiku also reassured the students of an end to ASUU strike in Nigerian University and noted that tertiary institutions will wear a new look with quality funding to boost the morale of the lecturers and students.
The stakeholder engagement had in attendance the former Vice President of Nigeria, Namadi Sambo, PDP National Chairman, Iyiocha Ayu, former senate President, Bukola Saraki, Osun state Governor, Ademola Adeleke, former Governor of Osun state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former Jigawa state governor, Suleiman Lamido, presidential campaign spokesperson, Dino Melaye, Party faithfuls’, among others.
Stakeholders at the event includes: Labour leaders, students, religious leaders, artisans , ASUU, ASUP, Nigerian Medical Association, Media representatives among others.
The campaign train afterwards moved to the Ake Palace ground for the presidential rally.
