Nigerian Government to improve Labour Congress’s infrastructure

The Nigerian Government has pledged to work assiduously with the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, to improve the infrastructure of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, for optimum usage.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha make the pledge during the official commissioning of the Comrade Hassan Sunmonu Court in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.

Mr Mustapha, therefore, reiterated the government’s commitment towards improving the living conditions of its workforce through improving some of the basic infrastructures of the Nigerian labour Congress.

Speaking while commissioning one of the Legacy Projects of the NLC, the  Secretary of the Government of the Federation, noted that, the commissioning of the structure is not just the joy of the NLC but a joy of every Nigerian.

Mr Mustapha who stated l that, the structure is not only met to save costs for the Union added that it would also help to reduce the rate of unemployment in the country.

He assured the Union that government will continue to support the cause of Nigerian workers as demonstrated in the signing of the national minimum wage Bill into law.

“I challenge all NLC members to emulate the courage in Ayuba Wabba and ensure that the Union achieve the desire objective. We will see how to work with the FCTA to improve the infrastructures of the NLC for optimum usage.

The President of the Nigerian labour congress, Comrades Ayuba Wabba noted that the Union are not only known for agitation but is also good at managing resources.

Wabba commended Executive members of the Union for supporting the idea behind the structure and also to name it after the first president of the Nigerian labour congress, Comrade Hassan Sunmonu.

In the words of Comrade Ayuba Wabba, The NLC are not only known in agitation but they are also good managers of resources. With such a gigantic three storey building built by the Union, it will further made the Union to fully be dependent on it own”.

While stressing the need for more unity amongst it members across all it affiliated union members, Wabba noted that the greatest union in the world has one sentence such as that of the United Kingdom and China amongst others.

The three-storey hotel that was built by the NLC is situated at 6 Edith Nnacheta street, Mabushi House.

The NLC President revealed that the Land was bought in 2017 at the cost of N6 million and cost them three hundred million naira to develop it into use.
