The Nigerian Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has mourned with Tanzania and its president, Samia Suluhu Hassan, over the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan, describing the loss as a moment that reflects the enduring bonds of solidarity among African nations.
President Tinubu said this in a condolence message on Monday posted on his X handle, @officialABAT, following the passing of Hafidh Ameir Hassan, the Tanzanian President’s husband, reading Tanzania.
The President said he received the news of Hassan’s death with deep sadness, describing President Samia as a dear sister and colleague.
“At moments such as this, the bonds that unite us as Africans matter even more. Nigeria mourns with Tanzania and stands with President Samia and her family in this hour of grief,” President Tinubu said.

President Tinubu acknowledged the depth of the loss to the Tanzanian leader and her family, noting that Hassan had been President Samia’s lifelong companion for almost five decades and had stood quietly beside her through the different seasons of her public service.
The Nigerian Leader said the Tanzanian President had lost a lifelong companion, her children a beloved father, while the Hassan family had lost one of its pillars.
“I know what this loss means to President Samia and her family. She has lost a lifelong companion, her children a beloved father, and the family one of its pillars. For almost five decades, he stood quietly beside her, through every season of her service to Tanzania. A companionship of that depth becomes part of who a person is. To lose it is to lose a portion of oneself, and I feel for her deeply,” he said.
On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria as well as his family, President Tinubu extended condolences to President Samia, her children, the Hassan family and the people of Tanzania.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, and on behalf of my family, I extend my deepest condolences to President Samia, her children, the Hassan family and the people of Tanzania.
“At moments such as this, the bonds that unite us as Africans matter even more. Nigeria mourns with Tanzania and stands with President Samia and her family in this hour of grief,” he added.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to grant Hafidh Ameir Hassan eternal rest, comfort those he left behind and give President Samia and her family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
