Anambra Commissioner Seeks Support For Effective Healthcare System

The Anambra state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike has called on individuals and communities to support the state government in achieving efficient and effective healthcare system that will be affordable and accessible to all.

Dr. Obidike made this appeal while commissioning Saint Michael Hospital, Onono, Umuikwu Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area, Anambra state.

The Commissioner who explained during the event that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is doing everything to ensure that those living in the rural areas have access to quality healthcare system, said that Public Private Community Partnership, (PPCP), which was introduced by the governor is the best way to achieve an efficient healthcare system in the state.

Dr. Obidike who eulogized Chief Osita Offorzor who built the hospital for helping humanity, urged other affluent individuals and groups across the state to emulate him, even as he stated that government will do everything humanly possible to make the hospital great and urged the people of the area to embrace health insurance for them to stay away from out-of-pocket expenses.

The member representing Anambra East and West Federal constituency, Honourable Chinedu Obidigwe, described the hospital as one of the best things that have come to the people of Onono, Umuikwu Anam and prayed God to bless Chief Offorzor.

In their separate speeches, the Transition Committee Chairman for Anambra West Local Government Area, Mr. Felix Ikechi and a stakeholder in the area, Chief Edochie Onuorah, regretted that Anambra West Local Government area is the only council area that has no general hospital and appealed to the Anambra state government to come to their aid, even as they promised to support every move by the Soludo administration to alleviate the suffering of their people.

The benefactor, Chief Offorzor said that he built the hospital to end unnecessary death due to lack of hospital in his area, and appealed to the Anambra state government to send sound medical personnel to operate the facility.

The member representing Anambra West constituency in the state house of assembly, honourable Patrick Obalum-Udoba, a business mogul, Chief Michael Okafor-Nwofia among others were present during the event.
