The Labour Party in Oyo State has denied rumours that it had collapsed its structures for Accord, especially for Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency and the Oke-Ogun Zone in general.
The governorship candidate of the party, Tawfiq Akinwale, made the clarification in a statement issued on Saturday, describing the news as fake.
Akinwale said the party had not and would not collapse its structure for any other party in the election, urging its supporters not to fall for the “antics” of deceivers.
He said: “Our attention has been drawn to a rumor being circulated and credited to Accord Party that the Labour Party in Oyo State has collapsed its structure for Accord Party in Oyo State.
“The public is hereby informed that it is fake news and a deliberate but futile attempt by Accord Party to drag Labour Party along into failure.
“We are aware that this frivolous claim is making waves, especially Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency and Oke-Ogun in general.
“Labour Party has not collapsed structure for any party and that will never happen. “We are open to receiving members from other parties into Labour Party, they can collapse their structure for us and join our bid to rescue Nigeria and Oyo state.
“Accord Party and other evil peddlers are hereby warned to desist from creating and spreading fake news, propaganda, and unfounded information. We are aware of the imminent failure of Accord in the polls, we will not lose focus and be dragged into the same stream of failure.
“We remain focused and solidly gallant to win all seats in Oyo State and at the National level. Nigerians and citizens of Oyo are solidly behind us and nothing shall discourage us until victory is achieved,” the statement concludes.
