The Oyo State Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, has, on Saturday, cast his vote at Ward 6,Unit 4, Kishi, Irepo Local Government Area, Oyo North Senatorial District.
The Deputy Governor, who arrived the Polling Unit at about 9:56am, accompanied by his wife, was accredited and thereafter cast his vote.
After the exercise, Lawal commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise, noting that people came out in their good numbers early enough and urged the people to keep up the tempo.
The Deputy Governor further commended the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) for the introduction of the innovation into the voting exercise, affirming that the use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) would ensure that people’s views count.
It was gathered that the electorate, who came out in large numbers, had arrived the unit before the arrival of INEC officials and voting commenced as early as 8:30AM with many of the voters waiting patiently for over an hour as the election commenced.
The atmosphere was peaceful and calm with only one police officer was spotted at the entire unit.
There was an even spread of both males and females standing on separate queues for accreditation and voting.
Party agents, Afisu Sakariyau (SDP) and Moshood Jamiu (ADC), who were on the ground, said the process was peaceful and orderly, noting that many of the voters got to the unit early so they could cast their votes early enough.
Many of the voters were also seen arriving on motorcycles with many other motorcycles parked around the polling unit.
