The Nasarawa South Seating senator and All progressive congress, (APC), candidate for the seat of the senate in Nasarawa South Senatorial District, Senator Umaru Almakura has applauded the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC for conducting the 2023 presidential and National Assembly Elections in an organized manner.

Addressing journalists at his residence in Lafia, the state capital, senator Almakura said the exercise was quite impressive.

“From what I have seen in this exercise, without mincing words, I must say that I am highly impressed with the painstaking efforts that INEC has put in place, to ensure a seamless process and that has said so much in making the exercise very peaceful; very simple and very transparent.

“What impresses me more, is the speed with which the process is executed. All things being equal, if you come from a polling unit, present your card, within 2 minutes, you are done. I believe this election, will go down in history as one of the most organized election of all organized elections”.

Also commenting on the peaceful outcome of the exercise in the state, he said: “As i pass through other polling units to my polling unit, I can see the serenity, the orderliness of which the electorates are going on with this process and I think INEC needs to be commended for this exercise. Besides that, the electorates also, have  substantial sensitization and enlightenment; so much so that you don’t even think anything is happening. People are filing and doing their civic duty.

“I’ll also add that as a signatory to the peace accord, I am faithful and committed to this Peace Accord and I’ve already gathered all my supporters before the elections two days ago, to abide strictly by the Peace Accord, so that we can make this election a highly successful election.

In the same vein, the National Director Legal, APC Campaign Council, Hassan Liman at his polling unit; Kofar Liman 010 in Kariyoma ward, Lafia, Nasarawa State, while applauding INEC for the introduction of the Biometric Data Capturing Machines, also said that the modalities put in place, will help curb uneccessary post election tribunals.

“My observation and general assessment as a citizen of this country that has voted in several elections, this is one of the best elections I have ever witnessed. It is seamless, hitch free; the process of accreditation especially via the BIVAs is so efficient.

“As a lawyer that has done several election petitions in this country, it has made the job much easier for the lawyers involved in electoral matters.  Because the most important thing in an election is the process of accreditation, Liman added.
