Governor Umahi, Kama, Igariwey win as Senator, Reps Members

The Governor of Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria, David Umahi of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been declared the winner for the Ebonyi South senatorial zone.

 

Umahi scored a total of 28,378 votes to defeat his rivals, Linus Okorie of Labour Party, LP, who scored 25, 496, came second, while Eleje of APGA scored 11,398 and came third.

 

The INEC returning officer, Professor Augustine Egwu of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike Ikwo, announced the results at Afikpo North LGA headquarters. Professor Egwu declared that Umahi, having scored the highest cast to defeat his opponent, is hereby standing elected as the winner of the senatorial election.

 

Egwu noted that Umahi having satisfied all the requirements of the law is declared the winner of the Ebonyi South Senatorial seat and remains Senator-Elect.

 

On his part, Governor Umahi dedicated his victory to God and pledged to be a senator of all Ebonyi people.

 

Also, the member representing Afikpo North/South federal constituency, Ebonyi State, in the House of Representatives, Iduu Igariwey has defeated his All Progressives Congress, APC rival,  Eni Uduma Chima.

 

Igariwey, a PDP lawmaker who is the Vice Chairman of, the House Committee on Appropriation polled a total of 24,649 votes while Chima got 11,296 votes.

 

The result was announced at the constituency headquarters in Afikpo North by INEC officials.

 

Igariwey who is a two-term lawmaker is seeking re-election for the 3rd term in the House of Representatives.

 

In a related development, the House of Representatives candidate of labour Party, Mr. Nkemkanma Kama, contesting for Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo federal constituency has as well been declared winner.

 

Kama scored a total of 19921 votes to defeat his closest rival of the APC, Mr. Fidelix Igboke who scored 14231, while the PDP candidate, Mr Mark scored 7506 to come third.

 

The INEC Returning Officer, Onu Omaka who announced the results, said that Kama for having satisfied all the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner of the election.
