NGO distributes food items and cash to indigents in Ebonyi

A Non Governmental Organisation NGO has distributed food items to Nigeria Correctional Service, Motherless babies home, offset medical bills and provided cash donations  to discharged patients at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital and Mile Four hospital in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria.

 

Known as Ebele and Anyichucks foundation, its State Coordinator, Comrade Christian Onu said the donations were part of the activities to mark the fortieth birthday anniversary of the co-founder of the NGO, Chief Mrs Ebele Chukwuma Odii.

 

Comrade Onu said this type of donation has been going on for the past fifteen years and “It is a special day for us because our co-founder, Chief Mrs Ebele Chukwuma Odii just clocked 40 years, hence all these gestures. 

 

“The foundation has built over 100 houses across the State. We have visited Motherless babies home and provided succor to them.”

 

“The foundation has also offset the medical bills of ten indigents each in Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital and Mile Four hospital here in Abakaliki which runs in millions of Naira,” Onu said.

 

“Scholarship is on-going. Many indigents students are enjoying our scholarships. These people would have ordinarily been a school dropout but glory is to God, our foundation has benefited them,” Onu explained.

 

“Ebele and Anyichucks foundation has been uplifting the downtrodden and empowering people for past fifteen years.” the Coordinator stated.

 

The Deputy Comptroller Nigeria Correctional Service, Mr Ray Nwagu thanked the foundation for coming to relief them from some of the problems in the Correctional Centers.

 

The Executive Chairman of Nigeria Red Cross in Ebonyi, Chief Simeon Nweze expressed happiness over the items and prayed that God continued to bless the founder of the foundation, Chief Chukwuma Odii and the family.

 

“One of the challenges we are having here is power supply. We need steady power supply, the children are always crying each time power goes off. If any organisation can give us Solar energy and big Generator, it would be appreciated,” Nweze said.

 

The Chief Medical Director of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Dr Emeka Ogah expressed joy and  prayed that God would always meet Ebele and Anyichucks at their points needs.

 

“Ebele and Anyichucks foundation do their things selflessly. They don’t consider where the beneficiary is coming from. The significant thing is that his gesture is not tribalised and no nepotism,” Dr Ogah applauds.

 

He called on wealthy individuals to emulate from what Chukwuma Odii and the wife are doing.

 

One of the ten discharged patients in Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Mrs Uruchi  Ukamaka from Ohaofia Agba, Ishielu Local Government Area in Ebonyi State said she is happy over the gesture towards them.

 

The  Head of Account, Mile four hospital, Mr Friday Ogbonnaya prayed for continuous blessings in the family of Chukwuma Odii and the family.

 

One of the ten discharged patients who benefited from the gesture, Mrs Christiana Egbai, from Cross River State, thanked God for using Ebele and Anyichucks foundation to offset their Medical bills which has kept  them in the hospital for a long time.
