Police Refutes Claim Of Electoral Material Recovery In Niger State

The Niger State Police Command has debunked  claims of discovery of electoral materials in the situation room of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Niger state North Central Nigeria.

A statement by the Spokesperson of the Police in Niger State, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said;” The Police was inundated with calls and publications in some online media alleging that the Police has discovered a building where ballot papers and BVAS machines were found in Minna metropolis.”

The Police has categorically denied the furious allegations as these publications does not reflect the true position of what transpired,“DSP Abiodun stated.

He further said the command has
reacted on information by some informants in Minna, the state capital that some persons were found in a building allegedly thumbprinting ballot papers ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State.

Contrary to the report, on entering the building and based on preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the information was untrue and false in its entirety.”

The Niger State Police command spokesperson who however said the building was discovered to be APC situation room said; “There were no ballot papers or BVAS machines or anything both sensitive and non sensitive associated with elections in the past or in the future found in the building”.

The said informant according to DSP Abiodun who were later identified as Arch. Aminu Maaji and one Mohammed Liman were immediately invited for further questioning for giving false information and attempt to cause breach of peace at the scene by the SCID.

The Commissioner of Police Niger State command C P Ayodeji Ogundele is advising members of the public to disregard misinformation, as it is false, untrue and merely misleading.”

The police Command in Niger State urged members of the public to always verify and confirm their information before raising alarm to avoid causing public uproar and over heating the electioneering atmosphere and peaceful co-existence enjoyed in the state.
