As the world marks International Women’s Day, Stakeholders in Nigeria have advocated for the inclusion of Women, Girls in digital innovation to bridge the gender gap
They stated this during a roundtable discussion held in Lagos, to mark United Nations International Women’s Day 2023.
The Former Chairman Lagos Chapter, of the Information, Technology Association of Nigeria, Mr Bonny Mekwunyewho spoke on the need to build women and girls up, especially in the area of ICT explained that this year’s theme, “Digital Innovation And Technology For Gender Equality,” highlights the role of innovative technology in promoting gender equality and meeting the health and developmental needs of women.
The Director General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Professor Eghosa Osaghae stressed the need to enhance the capacity of women in the area of technology.
The UN Representative and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr Mathias Schmale highlighted what women and girls are facing in the society.
Mr Schmale urged the world to go beyond equality and look to equity in the area of women and girls.
