Governor El-Rufai Says Election Is Peaceful In Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai has said that the ongoing gubernatorial and state House of Assembly election has been relatively peaceful.

He however disclosed that there are few areas in part of the state where voter intimidation is also reported.

The Governor made the disclosure at his polling unit in Unguwan Sarki, within the state capital after casting his vote.

He mentioned that they anticipated some level of violence but by the grace of God, there has been no reports of such.

Proper security 

Speaking further, he averred that proper security arrangements were put in place to resist any form of violence.

On voter apathy, the Governor who was not satisfied with the turn out was optimistic of improved turn out, especially by women before the end of the stipulated time for the voting.

He gave assurance that, with the introduction of BVAS, the chances of rigging and ballot snatching is limited.

He added that the voting system has been improved as he hoped for ful electronic voting by next election.
