Sokoto State partners with SON to curtail flow of Sub-Standard products

The Sokoto State Government is partnering with the Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON to ensure effective flow of standard products across the country.
The State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal stated this when he received Director General of SON, Mr Faruk Salim, at the Government House in Sokoto.
According to Tambuwal, with the mandate of preparation, standard related to products, measurements, processes and certification of products of Nigeria for national, international and regional market will turn around the processes.
Laying foundation for the SON new State office, Tambuwal assured the Director General that the Government was committed in establishing it’s office with Standard laboratory for their research.
“I assure you that the Ministry for land and housing will collaborate that of commerce and industry to provide a piece of land suitable for the establishment of standard laboratory,” the Governor said.
Tambuwal also commended President Muhammad Buhari for appointing Mr Salim as DG of the agency.
He said he believes that the DG with his vast experience wouldl assist in repositioning the agency and generate more revenue to government.
Earlier in his remarks, Director General of SON, Mr Faruk Salim, said they were in the state to lay foundation for the construction of Sokoto State office and laboratory complex.
Mr Salim said SON identify Sokoto State as partner in progress and would create an avenue for entering in a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU for economic growth and development.
With the MoU, Salim said the agency and the State would explore more opportunities to Small and Medium Enterprises.
The Director General thanked Governor Tambuwal for a warm reception accord to him and his entourage.
The construction of the new office was awarded to Diamond Global Engineering Investment Limited and expected to be completed within a shortest possible time.
