Minister commissions Science, Technology and Innovation TV Studio

Nigeria’s Minister of Science Technology and Innovation, Dr Adeleke Mamora has commissioned the broadcast studio of National Science Technology and Innovation Television (NSTI Tv).

The STI TV which is located at the National Space Research and Development Agency NASRDA in Abuja the nation’s capital is aimed at reporting much more in-depth activities of Science Technology and Innovation.

According to the Minister, the NSTI Television will focus on the nation’s contribution to STI by publishing the latest outputs and products from all research institutions and the latest STI developments from all over the world.

“You may wish to note that the NSTI tv will cover the entire landscape of Science, Technology and Innovation including Engineering, Health and Medicine, Natural Science, Environment and Wildlife, Children’s Curiosity, Science and Society, Agriculture, Innovations, Scientific Heritage, Science Policy using interactive and latest formats like Documentaries, Discussion, Demonstrations/Experiment Shows, Quizzes, Game shows, Science Fiction, Docu-Dramas, Specials, Biographies.” He said.

The Minister noted that the NSTI Tv has been developed in a way that could be easily accessed as it is a Terrestrial, Satellite and Internet-Based Science Over-The-Top (OTT) TV channel.

Dr Mamora added that NSTI tv will provide Nigerians with access to a wealth of information on Science, Technology and Innovation, and how they can be applied to improve the economy of the country as well as play a key role in promoting Science, Technology and Innovation literacy in Nigeria.

“I am confident that the commissioning of the National STI Television today will be a game-changer for Nigerians and will play a key role in promoting Science, Technology and Innovation in the country as well as enable the citizens to appreciate the relevance and importance of STI to nation building.

The Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation Chief Henry Ikechuckwu said that the establishment of the Television Station was introduced as part of the Implementation of the Presidential Executive Order No 05 to assist in establishing Science, Technology and Innovation as part of daily life of Nigerians towards achieving the national development goals across all sectors of the economy.

“It may interest you to note that this Television Station will be Multilingual Science Channel in English, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa and will be accessed on any device that has internet connection.

Chief Ikoh solicited the support and collaboration of all stakeholders in the Science Technology and Innovation ecosystem, to work together towards achieving the shared vision of a Nigeria that is technologically advanced.

The former Chairman Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Senator Boroffice Robert Ajayi, commended the Ministry for its efforts in seeing the idea of the TV station becoming a reality.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation Mrs Monilola Udoh said that the commissioning of the TV station will enhance the desired patronage of the laudable indigenous products.
