Showmax Originals From Nigeria Bag 22 Nominations At Ninth AMVCAs

Show Max Originals from Nigeria, ‘The Real Housewives of Lagos’, ‘Crime and Justice Lagos’, ‘Diiche’, ‘Flawsome’ and ‘Wura’, have been nominated for 22 awards in nine categories, including Best TV Series and Best Director, for the ninth edition of the prestigious Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

The nominations were announced on Sunday night by the duo of Bisola Aiyeola, an award-winning actress and lead cast in ‘Flawsome’, and Ghanaian actor Adjetey Anang, alongside child actors Jasmine Olarotimi and Nifemi Lawal.

‘Diiche’, a thriller about an actress who becomes the prime suspect when her fiancé is found dead, takes the lead with six nominations in six categories, including Best TV Series (James Omokwe), Best Writer (Sodi Kurubo, Stephanie Dadet & Victor Aghahowa), Best Art Director (Uche Nwaohiri and Tunde Lawal), Best Lighting Designer (Francis Wanyahdeh and Ebuka Enejere), Best Picture Editor (Banjo Onyekachi, Winston Aig-Ohioma, Oluwaseun Adeosun), Best Cinematographer (Charles Oleghe) and Best Director (Tolu Ajayi, Fiyin Gambo, Ifeoma Chukwuogo, James Omokwe).

Police procedural and crime series, ‘Crime and Justice Lagos’, bagged five nominations in various categories: Best TV Series (Yinka Edward), Best Art Director (Pat Nebo and Temple Chima Adighije), Best Lighting Designer (Francis Wanyahdeh), Best Picture Editor (Holmes Awa and Daniel Tom) and Best Cinematographer (Yinka Edward).

Flawsome, a drama series centered on the lives of four women bound by the flawed yet unbreakable ties they share, received five nominations in four categories: Best Actress in a Drama (Enado Odigie and Ini Dima-Okojie), Best TV Series (Tola Odunsi and Akin Akinkugbe), Best Lighting Designer (Segun Adeleke) and Best Cinematography (Idowu Adedapo aka Mr. Views).

The Nigerian adaptation of The Real Housewives franchise, The Real Housewives of Lagos bagged nominations in four categories: Best TV Series (Deola Art-Alade and Dare Art Alade), Best Costume Designer (Deola Art-Alade), Best Lighting Designer (Renaldo Van Den Berg, Emmanuel Patrick, David Otuokere) and Best Cinematographer (Mex Ossai, Philip Okpokoro, Esmond Igho, KC Obiajulu, Goke Oyerinde).

The first Showmax Original telenovela in Nigeria, Wura also bagged a nomination in the Best Actress in a Drama category, where Scarlet Gomez will be going against Enado Odiche and Ini Dima-Okojie (Flawsome).
