Ebonyi State Government has stopped paying cash into individual’s account for Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), rather should pay directly to the government’s designated account.

The State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barrister Uchenna Orji made this known to newsmen after State Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki.

Barrister Orji said it is now a punishable offence by law for anybody to do so.

“From today henceforth, it’s a serious offence for anybody to pay cash inform of Internally Generated Revenue IGR to any revenue officer or whosoever”, Orji noted.

The Commissioner said any offender would pay 200 percent of the total revenue which he or she might have paid to revenue officer or whosoever and as well be prosecuted.

He said Government took the decision as measures to checkmate fraud in revenue generation in the State.
