Army: Commander to improve living conditions in Barracks

The General Officer Commanding, (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army Major General Jamal Abdussalam has expressed determination to improve the living condition of the barracks community; in partnership with Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, NAOWA.

 

 

General Abdulsalam who is also the Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe, made the pledge when the Chairperson of the 6 Division Chapter of NAOWA, Mrs. Maryam Abdussalam led members of her executive on a courtesy working visit to the Division Headquarters.

 

 

A statement by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 6 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Iweha Ikedichi said the Commander pledged the support of the Division to the Army Officers Wives Association, 6 Division Chapter whose objectives revolves around the improvement of the well being of the barracks community, to enable it succeed.

 

 

The General Officer Commanding 6 Division, while appreciating the Chairperson for the visit stated that he equally directed the assessment of the NAOWA school within the cantonment with a view to improving the quality of manpower, infrastructure, and other educational aids facilities within the school.

 

 

Earlier, the Chairperson of the Division’s chapter of NAOWA, Mrs. Maryam Abdussalam, congratulated the GOC on his appointment as the 10th General Officer Commanding and solicited the assistance of the GOC towards improving facilities at the NAOWA school as well as the possibility of Establishing a NAOWA college in Port Harcourt Barracks.

 

 

Mrs. Maryam Abdussalam further stated that she intends to resuscitate the NAOWA school with qualitative, attentive, and caring teachers in line with the vision of the National President of NAOWA, Mrs Salamatu Yahaya to enhance the quality of education in the barracks.

 

 

She made known her plan to create the appropriate curriculum that will aid planned learning in a serene environment, which would give parents the confidence to have their children in the school.
