The seventh virtual meeting of the National Economic Council, NEC, is underway with Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, presiding from his office at the State House, Abuja.
All members of the Council, including governors of Nigeria’s 36 states, Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, among others, joined the virtual meetings from their states and offices.
Some of the issues that may be on the agenda of the meeting are security, management of the COVID-19 second wave and the state of implementation of the Economic Sustainability Plan, ESP.
At the last meeting of the Council, a committee was set up to engage with youths and other critical stakeholders in addressing the deeper roots of the ENDSARs protests.
The Committee, chaired by the vice president, may also present its report at the ongoing meeting.
