Lawmaker empowers constituents in Gombe state

The Member Representing Dukku-Nafada Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hajia Aishatu Jibir Dukku, has distributed empowerment items to her constituents in the two local government areas she is representing in Gombe state.

The items distributed are six vehicles, 100 motorcycles, 30 Deep Freezers, 31 power generators, 200 sewing machines, 21 Grinding machines, 100 pots, 100 hospital bedsheets, 50 well chairs, 21 pumping machines, 30 wheelchairs, 200 big mats, 150 small mats, 24 Camp Gas, 24 frying pans with 24 cartons of noodles.

She also gave out cash donations to All Progressives Congress’s Party Executives in the 20 Wards, amounting to 2 million and 43 thousand naira, hoping to continue the payment of monthly allowances to the party executives in the two local government areas.

In all, Hajia Aishatu said she spent about 110 million naira to procure the items.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the formal presentation of the items, Hajia Aishatu said the two of the vehicles, Sharon cars, were meant for the local vigilante groups in the LGAs to enhance security in the zone.

“All of us have a role to play and I and I feel in my small way, I can contribute to their logistics so that it will enhance their patrol in my two local governments of Dukku/Nafada,” Hajia Aishatu said.

She said one of her other project in the area was encouraging girls-child education, through the provision of wheelchairs to some of the female physically challenged in the two local governments, because she believed that it would help them access education.

“Majority of the recipients are women of these empowerment items are women. I believe that will tell you my good intention of supporting women in any way, not only in politics, economically, socially and politically,” said Hajia Aishatu.

She says she holds mentorship classes, where young girls are mentored and encouraged to participate in politics so that when their turn comes, they will join politics to support their people.

The Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abubakar Inuwa Kari, commended the laudable intervention by the Representative of Dukku/Nafada in the House of Representative for her people, saying it will go a long way to touch the lives of the people.

He called on other representatives of the people to emulate the kind gesture of Hajia Aishatu, which he referred to as a strong and well-deserved representation of any group, capable of positively impacting the lives of the people.

Speaker after speaker, all encouraged the beneficiaries to make use of the empowerment items to touch the lives of others as well.

Hajia Aishatu also told journalists about some of the other constituency projects she was executing and would execute in her area, including the construction of rural access roads, enhancement of power generation, where she intended to supply transformers and also provide solar light for Tsangaya/Almajiri Schools.

“So that they do not have to cut wood, trim down the trees and we want to make sure that we do a lot of afforestation because Dukku/Nafada is an erosion-prone zone. We want to do everything to improve the climate of the place and thereby improving the climate of Gombe State and supporting the Governor’s Project of Gombe Goes Green so that together, we can achieve a better environment,” Hajia Aisha said.
