A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, factional group led by  the former Minister of foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali have elected new state executives for the party in Kano State.

This comes as the PDP group led by former Governor of Kano state, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso few days ago elected and inaugurated its own Executives in Kano State.

The Wali led PDP faction in its congress with 8,717 delegates elected 39 new Executive Members of the Party with Muhammin Bako Lamido as the Chairman. The faction insisted that Kwankwaso’s led factional executives are premised on illegality.

The newly elected Chairman Lamido said the interim committee that conducted the election were on ground before Kwankwaso and his group joined the PDP in 2018, hence remained the authentic group to act and speak for the party in Kano.

He said the election was conducted because the constitutional tenure of the Interim committee has expired.

Lamido subsequently announced the suspension of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from PDP for anti party activities and not recognizing legally elected officials in the state.

“Kwankwaso cannot speak for our party because he lacks legal powers to do that, and you can check whether they have wards, Local governments  and state executives, they have been alone and alone they shall remain” said Lamido.

Court order

On the Court order recognizing Kwankwaso’s  faction  as the authentic group, Lamido said they have appealed the judgement and as such all action must remain on the status quo-ante until the determination of the case by the upper court.

Delegates from the 44 local government areas and 448 Wards gathered at Kano Foundation office along  BUK Road to elect new leaders of the Ambassador Aminu Wali led PDP faction.

Lamido who was the Dala local government chairman and interim committee chairman returned unopposed as the newly elected Chairman of the PDP in Kano.
