Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has declared the support of his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general election.
Governor Soludo made the declaration at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.
He described the reported support of 33 State Governors for President Tinubu as an unprecedented development in Nigeria’s democratic history, citing what he called a political and elite consensus around the President’s leadership.

The Governor said ”APGA’s support was based on shared commitments to national unity, security and prosperity.”
He stated that continuity in the Nigerian Government’s economic reform programme was necessary to move the country towards broader prosperity.’
“Mr President, to the best of my knowledge, there is no time in Nigeria’s history that there has been a greater consensus—a political and elite consensus. This is the first time we have about 33 governors seated here in support of a sitting President,” he said.
Soludo acknowledged the economic difficulties facing Nigerians but described the direction of President Tinubu’s reforms as difficult yet necessary.
“The path that you have chosen—that you have had the courage to take—is a difficult, but necessary and required path. That is why we are joining with you, Mr President,” he said.

He urged progressive political leaders across the country to unite behind a common national vision, describing the 2027 general election as an opportunity to consolidate the government’s reform programme.
Governor Soludo also expressed the hope that President Tinubu’s second term in office would accelerate the transition from economic stabilisation to shared prosperity, describing the approach as “pragmatic progressivism.”
Highlighting APGA’s political history, the Governor noted that the party was registered as a progressive party in 2002, 12 years before the formation of the APC in 2014.
“If you count progressives and you don’t count APGA, it is not complete,” he said, assuring President Tinubu that APGA would remain a partner to the Nigerian Government beyond the election campaign.
